Two years later and the game returns with the Shadow Edition which now features a new story expansion called Nightfall as part of the package. It wasn’t quite Tenchu but it helped to go a long way to fill the void. A good foundation of stealth and great story make this an enjoyable game.If you are like me and have been patiently waiting for a new Tenchu game to wet your assassin stealth appetite then your prayers were somewhat answered back in the latter half of 2016 with the release of Aragami. Nothing is different from mission to mission save for the map. Disable light barrier, reach next area, infiltrate pagoda. Using your abilities economically is done well though. Upgradeable abilities don't do anything new but are serviceable. You either sneak up on fools or avoid them, fighting results in one hit kills. Fighting is not an option like in many other stealth games. The enemies have a reasonable line of sight - not too realistic not too stupid. Cinematics really make the story beats enjoyable. I am inherently a fan of stealth and this is a game about a shadow **** ****'s stealthy Great story, I know that may not be agreed upon by everybody but the payoff brings everything together in a way I felt was very satisfying

I recommend you buy it because it was worth it at full price, now it's down to bargain levels. If you hate stealth games and like to have an action option you're gonna have a bad time, but if you love stealth you will love this. Rumor has it the creator is considering Nintendo Switch port which seems an even better fit. I recommend it to any fan of this genre, and I am eagerly awaiting a sequel. Maybe 8.5 would have been a more fitting rating?īottom Line: This absolutely blew me away.

Aragami switch review Ps4#
The steam version has a level editor, but not the PS4 version so that ****. Online: The Coop is great if you can find someone to play with and makes the harsh difficulty easier. There is no customizable button layout, the save points can be a bit far between, and the characters are hardly people you will get attached to. Different play styles and items are unlockable for people used to a more modern complete stealth experience like Splinter Cell Blacklist. Little Easter eggs to the creator's favorites like Ocarina of Time are sprinkled throughout which makes the story a bit more fun. It's not without glitches, but is very well designed. Light drains your magic, shadows restore it. You don't hide bodies, you send them through a shadow portal. There is no jump button instead you teleport. The shadow mechanic is very fun once you master it. They are packed with a myriad of branches and options you can use to approach the same goal. Honestly surpassed all my faves in the genre like Tenchu Z. The water, the fire, the night sky are all beautiful. The shadow system is pretty stylish as well.

There is clear anime influence in the characters.

Graphics: Artsy cell shading not quite as astounding as Journey or El Shaddai, but certainly well above Wind Waker the graphics are gorgeous and very well done. I was honestly keeping my hopes down and not expecting this much polish. I've bought or imported every single Tenchu or Shinobido ever made so when this game was being compared to a 3d Mark of the Ninja I couldn't resist. It is hard to find good Ninja stealth games. Absolutely was not expecting this level of quality in an indie game.
